VISITING G.S.O.:
To all those planning to visit the General Service Office in New York City: Welcome!
We look forward to greeting you. One note we'd like to pass along in advance, as some of our visitors might be hoping to purchase literature as part of their visit: As of January 1, 2019, we will no longer be selling literature onsite at our front desk. This is due to the building’s policy restricting sale or pick-up of any materials on building premises. We will, of course, continue our normal shipping operation, fulfilling orders received by phone, mail, and online.
We encourage A.A. groups and members to order literature and other items from their local service entities such as Intergroup/Central Offices, Areas, and Districts.
Visitors are welcome at G.S.O. from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (except holidays).
For large groups (more than 10 people) wishing to visit G.S.O., we ask that you call (212) 870-3400 and make arrangements at least 60 days in advance.
G.S.O. is located on the 11th floor of a building called the Interchurch Center. The building’s main entrance is at 61 Claremont Avenue between 119th and 120th Streets. If you are taking the subway, the nearest station is the 116th Street Station on the Number 1 Train line.
For the protection of those who work in and visit the Interchurch Center, the building has a security policy which includes all tenant organizations. Therefore, we ask all visitors to please comply with the building's security procedures.
To gain admittance to the building, please provide a photo ID at the Reception Desk on the first floor and indicate that you are going to visit the General Service Office / Grapevine on the 11th floor. The Reception Desk will provide you with a temporary building pass.
If you do not have identification, building staff will call our office to notify us of your visit. A G.S.O. employee will then come down to the front desk to accompany you to the 11th floor.
Two regular checkpoints have been established for the building and are located near the elevators on the first floor where Security Officers are stationed. Passes must be visibly displayed while passing security checkpoints and should be worn at all times while in the building.
